hmm....shall I trim my fiddle a bit shorter? |
I've been hesitating to write a post about fiddle leaf fig tree in this blog. Reason being MIG is a gardening blog rather than a home decor and ID blog. But I think it is undebatable. Home decor and interior design have been part of my lifestyle way before I started gardening. It is therefore, I consider gardening a branch out of my interest in home decor, and both are inseparable.
Fiddle leaf fig trees - You would probably have seen this big, round leaf trees in malls, in Homes or Interior Design magazines. Yes, it is in trend since the past few years (if its only a houseplant can be trendy too :p). It is a beautiful living art sculpture which make an excellent eye candy in photographs for many beautiful apartments in magazines. I love the big round shape of the leaf. The leather like texture (thick and hard) leaf in bright green and its rich brown tone stems create a very nice contrast.
Either in rattan basket, a metal pot, or a ceramic pot, this simple green plant will surely enhance the look of your living room, patio, veranda, or car porch area.
I have a pair of Fiddle leaf fig trees which I planted in a clay pots. I love the smooth and shiny finishing of the clay pots that complement the trees beautifully. I placed them in front of the main door entrance which is half shaded. The tree doesn't require direct sunlight, making it suitable for shaded spot or indoor.
Dummy proof !!!
Oh yes, the plant is literally grow-guaranteed ( I hope I'm not too overly confidence to say so :p)
It is really easy to take care. If you have planted other plants and they all turned out to be "dead", try this (well, if you like the look of this tree).
I water in small amount everyday and fertilise once a week. They grow pretty slow. Tips: If you don't want it grow fast, don't water too often, may be 3 times a week, or water in small amount just like what I do.
